K2 (James Ferraro) - Untitled
A highly remarkable, electronically tinged concept album for James Ferraro. This record presents a unique vision of a nightmarish world in which the pillars of capitalism have crumbled, and only the remnants of machines populate the Earth. A vision James has captured on many of his other works as well, but not in the wholly unique way he does here. Musically, this album provides surly, feverish rhythms laced with swirling, distorted electronics. Many of the track structures are quite linear, further adding to the dreamlike terror of this album. Overall, this stands as one of James Ferraro's most unique projects

Centrum- Sjön
Centrum: För Meditation
Hailing from Sweden, För Meditation does exactly what it says on the tin – it’s a meditative aural hug which is so luxuriating you could bathe in it.
Melding percussive shuffles, tabla, sitar, cyclical flute and undulating drones, here’s an album to literally lie down with, close your eyes and be taken into the land of Never Ever. Yet, there’s always a searing fuzz-toned guitar around the corner to awaken you from the dream.

Syd Barrett - Dark Globe
Unlike most of outsiders, Syd wasn't always on the outside. During 1967, amidst Great Britain's counterpart of the U.S. psychedelic Summer of Love, Syd was definitely in. He was the glamorous face, guitarist, and songwriting genius behind one of the United Kingdom's most exciting and influential new bands. But within a year, Barrett had migrated permanently to the outside. He was banished from Pink Floyd, as he tumbled into a psychological maelstrom and became pop music's premiere acid-fry. But his recording career didn't end―hence, his inclusion in this gallery. Although mind-altering chemicals were part of Syd's daily nutritional intake, some of his friends felt drugs merely aggravated a predisposition to psychic disturbance that would have overtaken Barrett sooner or later. His father's premature death when Syd was 12 had affected the lad greatly, and his mother seems to have overcompensated with relentless pampering. "We all felt he should have gone to a psychiatrist," said Pink Floyd replacement guitarist David Gilmour. "Someone in fact played an interview [with Syd] to [psychotherapist-author] R. D. Laing, and Laing claimed he was incurable.
Junior & His Soulettes - Thing, Do The Creep
Jr. and His Soulettes
Psychodelic Sounds (1971)
Black pre-teen group led by Harold Moore Jr, age 10, who is songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist for the group. His sisters Vinita Marie, age 9, plays bass and organ, Denise Marshall, age 7, plays drums, and Jacquelin Carol, age 6, plays Waw-Waw organ (!) and sings. Amazing real people funky psych with non-stop wah-wah guitar throughout and most tracks have rhythm (Waw-Waw) and lead organ. Approaches that cheesy Sunset Strip b movie exploito psych sound but this is the real thing. When they sing, this beast approaches
Shaggs' territory. Great tunes like "Momma, Love Tequila", "Waw-Waw Rock", and "Rock 'n Roll Santa". The incredible cover shows three shots of them in action including one with Jr in a failed split playing licks behind his head! Approximately 500 copies were pressed but most were destroyed from being shrink wrapped on a meat packing machine.
Ya Ho Wha- Part 2 (I'm Gonna Take You Home)
Ya Ho Wa 13
I'm Gonna Take You Home (1974)
Founded in 1973 in the Los Angeles area, Ya Ho Wha 13, otherwise known as Ya Ho Wa 13 or Yahowha 13 is a psychedelic rock band fronted by Father Yod, spiritual leader of a religious cult/commune called the Source Family. Ya Ho Wha without the vowels and spaces reduces to YHWH, the tetragrammaton. The band recorded nine LPs full of their extreme psychedelic sound with tribal drums and distorted guitars, some of which were completely unrehearsed jam sessions, others which contained more conventional rock songs.
It Was A Very Good Year
William Shatner
The Transformed Man (1968)
William Shatner has yielded a unique, much-criticized, and much-parodied body of work during his musical career. Shatner typically merely speaks the lyrics instead of singing them, often as an exaggerated interpretive reading.
Shatner's musical career began in 1968 with the release of his first album, The Transformed Man. Shatner used the album to compare contemporary pop songs of the period to the works of William Shakespeare by providing dramatic readings of Shakespeare interspersed with dramatic readings of the lyrics of songs such as "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" and "Mr. Tambourine Man". However, this first release was widely mocked and parodied for its unusual style; at the end of "Mr. Tambourine Man", for example, Shatner suddenly shouts the song's title in a tortured voice. The album would later be panned on the Internet, with the "Captain James T. Kirk Singalong Page" serving clips as early as 1993.
Shatner has defended his "stylings", refusing to acknowledge it as an experiment that went wrong, and insisting instead that it was an acting performance from the perspective of an LSD user; the song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds has often been abbreviated to LSD. This piece of music has been singled out by both Dave Barry and Mad magazine as being, in Mad's words, "truly unfortunate". George Clooney, for instance, chose this as one of the Desert Island Discs he would bring along if marooned – as an incentive to leave the island. He said, "If you listen to [this song], you will hollow out your own leg and make a canoe out of it to get off this island." In a 2003 Music Choice poll, it was voted as the worst Beatles cover of all time.
Alvaro the Chilean with the Singing Nose – Drikin My Own Sperm
Alvaro the Chilean With the Singing Nose
Drinkin My Own Sperm (1977)
Composer, vocalist, keyboardist, and poet Alvaro Pena-Rojas, better known as "Alvaro the Chilean With the Singing Nose," has been compared to John Lennon and Tom Waits, though in fact his strange music exists in a category of its own. With a large number of self-released recordings that borrow from such diverse sources as his Chilean background, European avant-garde, minimalism, and easy listening pop music, Alvaro has forged an endearing legacy of DIY and outsider music. Born in Chile in 1943, Alvaro released several singles of pop music in his native country in the late '60s before moving to London in 1974. Once there he hooked up briefly with Joe Strummer in an early version of the 101'ers, Strummer's group prior to the Clash.
Over the next several years in London and Germany, he recorded several demos, often just soloing on piano or keyboards and vocals, or occasionally with a drummer and bass player. With punk all the rage of London in 1977 and an emphasis on independence from record labels where bands would release their own material, Alvaro started his own label, Squeaky Shoes Records. His own quirky music, though nothing like the noise of punk, had even less commercial potential. With help from Antonio Narvaez on various percussions and vocals and Cathy Williams on vocals on one track, and himself on piano, lead vocals, percussion, pinquillo, double flute, bass, whistle, and stones, Alvaro's first LP, Drinking My Own Sperm, was recorded in November 1977 and came out soon after. The next several years saw the release of more full-length albums, singles, and tapes from Alvaro, all issued on his own label. His third record, The Working Class, recorded in Bavaria in 1979 and released the next year, was a completely solo effort with no overdubs. His single "Mariposa" from 1985 was considered the weirdest single in the Virgin Records Megastore in London at the time.

KK Null — 0415
KK.Null (born Kazuyuki Kishino) is one of the top names in Japanese noise music and in a larger context, one of the great cult artists in experimental rock. Starting his career in the early 80's by performing guitar improvisations in the clubs and streets of Tokyo, he continued by collaborating with Merzbow for two years, and joining the bands YBO² and Absolut Null Punkt.
In 1987, he gained wider notoriety as the leader, guitarist and singer of the trio Zeni Geva, which he described as "progressive hardcore". Does Your Heart Beat Slower
June of 44
Jeff Mueller's Post-Rodan outfit June of 44 continued to mine the same Slint-y sound from 1995 to 2000 with several albums, most notably 1995's "Engine Takes To The Water" and 1998's "Four Great Points". Kind of an Indie supergroup -- they've got a dude from Hoover and a dude from Codeine.
Seam - Something's Burning
Sooyoung Park's post-Bitch Magnet kinda-Slowcore kinda-Emo band Seam were originally from Chapel Hill (Mac McCaughan of Superchunk/Merge Records fame was the drummer on their first album, 1992's "Headsparks," which was on Homestead), but eventually moved to the Pigfuck mecca, Chicago. There, John McEntire and Bundy of Bastro/Gastr/Tortoise fame briefly played with them. They released a few more albums on Touch & Go before breaking up in 1999.

David Bowie - Blackstar (Video)
AMAZING, LOVE THIS SONG, ONE OF MY PREFERRED MUSICS EVER.
Blackstar (2015): In the title song of his latest work, Bowie said goodbye that he was not a rock star but a "black star". In the clip, released in November 2015, a woman meets a dead astronaut and, somewhat dismally, performs rituals with her skull. Critics have received his latest work as "wonderfully strange," as David Bowie was.
David Bowie - The Prettiest Star (1970 stereo version)
This lively song was famous for being used by Bowie to propose to his wife, Angela, for marriage. "One day, maybe one day / you and I will rise to the top / All because you are / The brightest star," he sang. The request, of course, worked: "Angie" and Bowie were married between the 70's and 80's.

Blut aus Nord- Nomos Nebuleam
While Deus salutis meæ (2018) was great, and, having now fully explored and revisited the Blut aus Nord discography, so is pretty much everything from Vindsval & Co., I have to express my gratitude for the fact that Hallucinogen is once again a return to their more atmospheric and melodic side in lieu of the harsh and cold, industrial feel of a lot of their releases in the new millennium.
Fire! Orchestra - At Last I am Free
The conceit of this album’s title is that an act of constant reinvention has achieved its most perfect form. Their vision, refined, perfected, has arrived. That’s what people say, that confidence is key, and here’s a proof of concept: a group which has quartered itself for a second release in a row, now standing at half-mast, performing with more assuredness and purpose than any of their previous, fattier iterations.
Weatherday - Mio, Min Mio
This is the weird, messy emo masterpiece i've been waiting for since The Brave Little Abacus broke up. Wonderful, heartfelt lyrics and vocals, lofi scuzz which, while somewhat obscuring the strong technical ability on display, adds a lot of texture and personality. There's heaps of imagination and interesting ideas scattered throughout, but that's no more apparent than on the album's centrepiece, 'My Sputnik Sweetheart,' a restless 13 minute chunk of emo, ambient, and post hardcore.
It's a really fucking good album, and it evokes the best of The Microphones, The Brave Little Abacus, and Teen Suicide
DUSTER - Copernicus Crater
It's not often that a '90s band makes such a strong comeback so many years later. With weak return albums from bands like American Football, Pixies, and Smashing Pumpkins failing to recapture what made the bands great in the first place, Duster seems to pick right up from where they left off on 2000's Contemporary Movement and redefine their sound for a new generation of listeners. Duster is truly one of the most prolific bands to grace the American indie scene, and this album stands as proof that their music may continue to stand the test of time.
