Weatherday - Mio, Min Mio

This is the weird, messy emo masterpiece i've been waiting for since The Brave Little Abacus broke up. Wonderful, heartfelt lyrics and vocals, lofi scuzz which, while somewhat obscuring the strong technical ability on display, adds a lot of texture and personality. There's heaps of imagination and interesting ideas scattered throughout, but that's no more apparent than on the album's centrepiece, 'My Sputnik Sweetheart,' a restless 13 minute chunk of emo, ambient, and post hardcore.

It's a really fucking good album, and it evokes the best of The Microphones, The Brave Little Abacus, and Teen Suicide
