No Trend - Your Love

That's what I like.... No Trend formed 1982, Ashton, MD, United States Disbanded 1988 Post-Punk, Art Punk, Experimental Rock No Trend formed in 1982. High-school friends Jeff Mentges (vocals) and Bob Strasser (bass), had started an art-punk band called The Aborted, and soon after meeting and adding guitarist Frank Price to the line-up, they changed their name to No Trend. The slow/sludgy early sound of the band was often compared to Flipper, and was at odds with the fast hardcore punk bands of their city's scene at the time. After drummer Michael Salkind, the band recorded their first demo tape in early 1983. Three songs from that tape (which was released in full as part of 1995 adding's The Early Months) were released later in 1983 as the band's first 7'' single Teen Love (with the cover being drawn by Price). Strasser left for college after the single's release, and Salkind departed as well. Both were soon replaced by two Virginian musicians - Jack Anderson on bass, and Greg Miller on drums. This line-up recorded and released the band's debut LP Too Many Humans....., an album that proved to be vastly influential for repetitive/dirgey punk bands that followed the next years.
