Mecca Normal, Black Dot Museum Art opening, Olympia, 2010. Mecca Normal (Jean Smith, David Lester) começaram em 1984, e gravaram 13 albums (K Records, Matador, Kill Rock Stars, e tocaram em shows com os Fugazi, Sonic Youth, Mirah, The Ex, Bikini Kill, The Fall, Sleater Kinney e Kimya Dawson .

David Lester é pintor, designer gráfico, cartonista, e guitarrista da dupla de rock Mecca Normal. O seu livro, The Gruesome Acts of Capitalism, entrou numa segunda impressão revista e tem sido leitura obrigatória no curso universitário Studies in Contemporary Literature. Os royalties serão oferecidos ao The Canadian Centre for the Victims of Torture. Ele criou o poster na serie “Inspired Agitators,” nos arquivos do The Center.
